Do I need pet insurance?

Pet insurance for the first 6 months to a year is highly encouraged and recommended. Please note most pet insurance policies do not cover routine office visits, only coverage for major surgeries. not including spaying or neutering.

Are kittens papered?

Kittens are not papered as they are placed as pets. Generational pedigree can be provided upon request.

How old do kittens have to be before going home?

We generally approve kittens to go home as early as 12-14 and 16 weeks with vaccinations and veterinarian health check.

Do I need to take my pet to a veterinarian?

All kittens are required to go to adoptive client's veterinarian within 7 to 10 days or first available if recommended by Nanette Allen of Wild Onion Maine Coons.a. Testing for FeLv, Feline Leukemia is optional, consult your veterinarian regarding vaccination schedule for FELV, Upper, Respiratory Distemper, rabies and FeLv vaccinations. if recommend by personal veterinarian. Kittens go home with their first or 2nd FVRCP , Upper respiratory distemper vaccination, part of a 3 part series and deworming. Wild Onion Maine Coons does not recommend neutering or spaying kittens before 9 months of age. Rabies vaccinations can be administered after 3 months or consult your veterinarian.

Do you do genetic health testing?

Genetic health testing is done on all breeders and are negative for the HCM marker.

Should I spay/neuter my kitten?

My personal recommendations, based on experience, is to wait until your kitten is 6 to 9 months of age. There is no need to rush this procedure. Please seek advice from your veterinarian always.
